My love for Psychology has brought me to volunteer in many organizations that focus on the importance of mental health. As a Psychology and Social Action Major I have valued the importance it is to serve as agents for social change. I know the difficulty that underserved communities have for advocating mental health. Volunteering and conducting research has only fortified my desires in becoming a Psychiatrist. As a Hispanic woman pursuing medicine I hope to be able to serve as a positive change on how mental illness is perceived in the Hispanic/Latino community.

Having this great opportunity with SCOPE will assist me in my mission to advocate mental health awareness. I will gain more experience in translating medical terminology that will prepare me for the future when I start seeing patients.
