As an undergraduate, I studied economics with the initial goal of getting a PhD in the field. Yet outside of school, I was spending most of my time working as a caregiver and volunteering to help children with special needs. The positive experience of supporting another person’s wellbeing made me realize that I wanted to change my career path. I decided to pursue medicine because it would give me the opportunities to provide individual care and build long-term relationships with patients. On my pathway towards becoming a doctor, I hope to gain the knowledge and skills to help improve the health of our communities and address the underlying issues contributing to health disparities. I am thrilled to be part of SCOPE because it provides a unique opportunity to explore medicine from an invaluable clinical perspective while bringing together a collaborative network of aspiring physicians.
