I am the child of immigrants, and as the eldest of my siblings, I am also the first to attend University in America. It is an opportunity that has come at a price: my parents, my mother’s effort. So, I will not forget the amount of strife endured by them to get me this far.
It’s not just about my family, it is also about the other people who are not here . About the children in the villages where there are no school. It’s about the people I left behind. I want to open opportunities for those who are limited by circumstances, so that everyone can have a right to education. Medical school is a stepping stone to this long term goal.
I want to go to medical school to help others but, perhaps more so, because I want to help myself. Knowledge is power and I want to know what is going on so that I know how to create change.
